Goofy has passed away

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce that Goofy died on Thanksgiving day, 2011. Goofy was with his family playing on a mountain where the kids were snowboarding and sledding.

Although from time to time he had to take doggie aspirin for his legs, he had 4 wonderful years of playing fetch and chasing the kids that he wouldn't have had if it wasn't for the generosity of everyone that donated to his surgery. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again for your help. Goofy was my best friend and I will never forget him.

I will probably dismantle this web site in June of 2012, maybe save it as a blog somewhere, I don't know. That will have marked the 5th anniversary of the campaign to help Goofy with his surgery.

God Bless

Welcome to the Save Goofy web site!

Goofy is a wonderful dog that lives in Palmer, Alaska. He loves to play fetch and play in the water, but he needed 2 operations that his family couldn't afford by themselves. Goofy had torn ligaments on both of his hind legs that he injured from falling on ice during the winter of 2006.

Goofy has fully recovered! Even though it has been cold up here, all Goofy wants to do is play fetch. It is very heart warming to see him back to his old self once again. Hopefully when the weather warms up a bit, I can put an updated video on here for all. Thank you all for helping Goofy. Christian was able to raise $300.00 in a garage sale to help with Goofy's operations - way to go Christian!!! God bless all of you.

Goofy has had his last operation! He will be home from the vet this afternoon and we hope to have pictures for everyone to see. Thank you all once again for helping Goofy! It is only because of the kind and generous donations we have received from you that made it possible for Goofy to have these operations and we thank you.

A new Goofy story has been added to the About section. Attacked by a porcupine!

Goofy is recovering nicely and is making full use of his new ligament in his right rear hind leg. Ayanna says that she can tell he's getting better because he ignores her more when it's time to come in. I can tell he's getting better by the increasing size of the tree limbs that he brings to me. J

Goofy still won't be able to play fetch for quite some time as he still needs to have his second operation. But he is a much happier dog thanks to all of you kind people who have donated to his first surgery. THANK YOU!!!

News - July 7, 2007

Goofy has had his 1st surgery and is recovering nicely. These pictures were taken the day he came home from the veterinarians office. He was really happy to see Ayanna when she arrived to pick him up!

His buddy Dash was really happy to have his friend back home again. In these pictures, Goofy was still a little traumatized by the whole experience, and he was still on drugs. His hind leg is of course shaved, and so is his butt (not in pictures) and a small part on his right front leg. Today, Goofy has his bandages off and is limping around quite nicely, but the poor guy has to wear a funnel on his head so that he can't get to the stitches (hopefully pictures to come of that).

NEWS - June 30, 2007

Goofy went in for the first of his 2 surgeries last night, Friday June 29th! The donations raised on this web site were enough to make a down payment for his first surgery. We would like to thank everyone who donated money for Goofy's operation, but we still need to raise more money to completely heal Goofy. For those of you who are keeping tabs on this web site, we ask that you send the link to this page to as many people as you can think of who might be able to help with Goofy's surgery.

Received from Ayanna Myhre June 29th

Hi John,

I wanted to inform you that I dropped off goofy this morning. He was very nervous!! Dash is already Mr. Lonely and crying for his big brother. He is lost without him. I will talk to you later. Oh by the way, Goofy will stay overnight and I will pick him up @ 1:45 tomorrow.
